RTU’s Legacy of Love and Care: 50 Years of Impact in Tamil Nadu
Founded in 1974 by Brother James Kimpton, RTU has grown into a banyan tree of hope. Our mission is to empower women and children through education and sustainable development.
Reaching the Unreached (RTU) is a highly successful and far-reaching, grassroots organization offering a range of services to empower some of the most marginalized and deeply impoverished people in rural villages in the west of Tamil Nadu. RTU was founded on 1974 by Brother James Kimpton, a De La Salle Brother, and was registered as a Society (no.42) dated 18th September 1978 under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975.
The seed was sown and today it stands like a huge banyan tree testifying to the hard work of its pioneering founder and the transformed lives of its beneficiaries.
