Inspiring Schools for 6,000+ Rural Students

Inspiring schools for 6,000+ rural students is the cornerstone of RTU India’s mission to transform lives through quality education. Our primary and secondary schools offer a lifeline to children in impoverished areas who otherwise lack access to formal learning. Following Google’s E-E-A-T principles, we combine decades of educational expertise with a deeply compassionate approach to student welfare. These schools do more than teach literacy; they provide a safe, nurturing space where children from marginalized backgrounds can discover their potential. By integrating academic excellence with a proven support system, we empower the next generation with the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty and lead successful, independent lives.

We believe the quality of education RTU provides, and the qualifications which the children achieve, are a real passport for them to a better future. To cater to the educational needs of the children in our Children’s Villages and in the neighbouring villages we have 9 nursery schools, 7 study centres in remote villages, 3 primary schools (one for physically challenged) and one higher secondary school. These schools are recognized by the state government and are run with the support of international philanthropists. The children are taught in Tamil with interactive teaching methods. we also offer courses for childern to catch up on their education if they had to dropout of school. within

RTU we give vocational training courses in computing and tailoring to help the children to gain employment. We also have a program to support those children who want to go on to study professional courses at college.

School

Primary
There are three primary schools. In these the Activity Based Learning Method (ABLM) is used, which has the advantage of eliminating rote learning and enables the teacher to spend more time with children who need it.

Secondary
RTU also has a high school for boys and girls. It has had a 100% success rate in Secondary School leaving certificates in the last four years. The high school has a biology lab, chemistry lab and a physics lab, and teaches arts as well as languages. We also have two mobile science labs which we use to teach in the villages and in government schools where they do not have the facilities for laboratory experiments

The children study up to their exams, which gives them admission into institutions of further or higher education.

am Silambarasan and have just completed my high school studies in RTU’s St. Peter’s High School scoring 443/500 in the public examination held in march 2006. All, including my teachers and parents, are congratulating me for my excellent performance in the exam. I also feel proud about my performance. I can say that it is a reward for my hard work and the input and encouragement from my dedicated teachers. But I attribute the credits to my teachers and my parents. Without their encouragement and support I would not have achieved this success. From my childhood my

parents infused an interest in education into me. Even before my admission in the primary school they, especially my mother, taught me to write Tamil alphabets and numbers. When I reached school-going age they selected the best school available in our area for my education.I started my education in

St. Peter’s primary school, run by RTU, under affectionate and considerate teachers. The environment of this school was conducive to study. The approach of this school to the children was very friendly. I heard of teachers compelling and threatening children in the other schools to make them study. But corporal punishment was unheard of in RTU school. All the teachers were very affectionate. They allowed us to find an agreeable way of studying. Along with academic subjects, they also taught us subjects like value education and life skills.

They taught us about the value of time and how to use time in a useful manner. This is what I feel is the main reason for my high performance in the government exams. I thank my parents and teachers and the management of RTU for starting a school in our rural area with the aim of eliminating illiteracy from villages and provide quality education to the children of the rural areas. I wish my alma mater, the St. Peter’s High School, every success and for it to keep its status as a “model school”.

Our Proven Primary and Secondary School Model

Success in rural education requires more than just a classroom; it requires a proven primary and secondary school model that addresses the specific challenges of poverty. RTU India operates several schools that follow state-approved curricula while integrating practical life skills. Our model focuses on small class sizes and high teacher-to-student engagement, ensuring that no child is left behind. By providing a structured and reliable academic journey from the early years through graduation, we maintain a high retention rate and prepare students for the competitive world of higher education and skilled employment.

Dedicated Academic Support for Rural Learners

Many of our students are first-generation learners whose parents may not have had the opportunity to attend school. To bridge this gap, we provide dedicated academic support for rural learners, including after-school tutoring, remedial classes, and access to well-equipped libraries. This support system ensures that children can overcome learning hurdles in a supportive environment. Our educators are trained to identify individual learning styles, offering a trusted guidance system that empowers students to master complex subjects and build the confidence necessary to excel in national examinations.

Creating a Safe and Inclusive Learning Environment

A child’s ability to learn is deeply tied to their sense of security. At RTU India, we prioritize creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where children from all backgrounds are treated with dignity and respect. Our schools are zones of safety, free from discrimination and physical hardship. We implement strict child protection policies and provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities to ensure a healthy atmosphere. This safe haven allows students to focus entirely on their studies, knowing they are protected, valued, and encouraged by a community that cares for their well-being.

Holistic Development Through Extra-Curricular Growth

True education extends beyond the four walls of a classroom. We foster holistic development through extra-curricular growth, encouraging students to participate in sports, music, traditional arts, and leadership workshops. These activities are essential for building teamwork, discipline, and emotional intelligence. By offering a diverse range of programs, we help children discover hidden talents and develop a well-rounded personality. This inspiring approach to education ensures that RTU graduates are not only academically proficient but also resilient individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
